There is a fundamental awareness appearing throughout our history and apparent in the religious and spiritual views of the majority of our races and cultures past and present. It can be seen expressed in both word and symbol repeated in many different ways as man, usually by intuition, attempted to keep this significant understanding alive.
Some races and cultures have made great effort to develop the understanding as they have been able to interpret it, whilst others have chosen to ignore this responsibility.
Through all these activities that awareness has grown from a vague almost nebulous thought to one where the knowledge associated with it, although still only in an infant state of growth is definitely and clearly impressed into the minds of the majority of people.
As with any understanding associated with life and all its expressions the original awareness is always simple and easily able to be comprehended and often at first glance seems to hold no great importance.
It is only when we begin to sense the possibility or significance of such an awareness that we commence to develop an appreciation of its nature. Through contemplation we approach the reality expressed by what had once seemed such an unimportant and insignificant awareness, in the process assisting in its growth.
What is this fundamental understanding?
Spirit, that conscious aspect of what we call God, seeking awareness and expression in material form does so through the soul, a state of consciousness existing in substance that is more subtle than our dense material world. Still seeking material expression a small spark of Spirit passing beyond the soul extends finally into the material condition we call matter and the result in the case of the human kingdom is man.
Each of us no matter what colour, race or culture is the result of this process. There are absolutely no exceptions. Every one of us has within the very essence of their being this Divine Spark of the consciousness of God.
Now from this understanding extends the concept of the three differing expressions of consciousness. When viewing the universal nature of consciousness in symbol form the number 3 is always used in some manner. This can clearly be seen expressed in many cultures.
Father or Spirit seeks expression in Mother or matter and the Son or consciousness is born. Another view which will increasingly become of importance to Western thought is:
Life Consciousness Form
Although there are many people who would like to hold the view of a God who looks, thinks or responds as we do, in short a personalised view of Being this is obviously not possible and is based upon a blindness caused by a lack of understanding, often encouraged by those who should know better.
The possibility of comprehending such a state of consciousness is not the reason for our existence. To reflect that state of consciousness is the reason for existence.
In doing this successfully the spark of Divine energy in each increases and our understanding in consciousness ceases to be focused in material matter. Each successful effort to reflect results in increased levels of consciousness and energy.
It is in this manner that the Spirit after decent into dense material form returns, having experienced that which was the cause and need of such activity.
Man is not isolated from God but is a part of God
In these understandings resides the concept of the brotherhood of man. When we look at the colour of our skin or system of beliefs, economic, political, religious or material etc., all those conditions that separate us and when they hold our attention at the expense of any other understanding it is not difficult to see how unimportant the Divine nature of man has become to us. How can we possibly understand the unity of man with all other life expressions both seen and unseen when we regard each other from the point of view of self interest, greed, fear, racialism and ultimately war and attempt to adjust the energies and conditions that surround us to our personal liking with complete disregard for the consequences?
Given the Divine Spark in each of us is the reason for our existence it is sometimes puzzling to see how strongly we attempt to deny its presence.
Yet in the midst of all this absolute chaos are men and women in thousands who make every effort in their daily lives to reflect the beauty that is in them. These are the ones who understand the importance of the brotherhood of man and the concepts expressed in such a manner. These are the men and women who guarantee the future of the human kingdom.
What is the energy we seek to reflect? How often have we been told that God is Love? Contemplation quietly on the two statements God is Love and All is Energy may prove to be of great interest.
Love is the force that produces activity in energy and it is here that the confusion between religion and science begins. One considers greater consciousness and the other regards the activities of form. Both look at one part of the same condition: a situation that we will overcome in the future. Already without great difficulty we can see attempts at comprehending and resolving this separation being undertaken by men and women who are becoming sensitive to the idea and the energy represented by the symbol of the idea.
Understanding the many states of consciousness that express the energy of Love and working with these multitude of energy forms to enhance the flow and exchange is the future of religion and science.
Each of us who seek to reflect the energy of the Divine Spark within needs to consciously develop this awareness and with steady effort it can be achieved to the level of which we are each capable. The method of contemplating an idea or concept that our intuition responds to is a manner of development well suited to the Western mind.
The relationship of the soul to man is one of great importance as although the Divine Light shines through man the quality of each expression is determined by the soul. As the nature of the direct association between man and soul becomes clearer the next natural step is to develop this bond intelligently.
The final result is the union of the greater fire of Divine consciousness expressed by soul uniting with the Spark within man. The consciousness of the soul can then stand in form and reflect this great energy of conscious Love.
A union of such nature is not new to the human kingdom having been displayed clearly by the Christ in our most recent history. This is the path being walked and this is only one of the achievements able to be reached by each of us who actively seek through our actions to reflect the energy of Love that resides within. Have we not been to "you will do greater deeds than this"?
The great fear in all of us is the possibility that our freedom of choice will be taken away. We go to all manner of effort to ensure that this does not happen, creating in the process systems of economics, politics and social development that will guarantee the continuance of this freedom. However for most of us this freedom is seen in material possessions and all the activities that go to support this condition. It is not difficult to see here is this endeavour there can never really be true freedom as choice has already been made.
The real freedom of choice upon which the future of the human kingdom is totally dependant is do we attempt to understand, develop and respond to the Divine quality in each of us or do we ignore its existence?
To return to the relationship between the soul and man; there has been a great deal of knowledge developed in this area through the study and observations by men and women who have passed before us and with care and common sense this can easily be found.
Understanding how each energy body develops and expresses consciousness is very definitely of great importance but all that will be referred to here is to that cord of energy that joins the soul to man.
This can be seen clairvoyantly and is often referred to as "The silver cord" and within its construction it carries the energy we know as mind. In order to bring the two energy bodies of soul and man together this cord of energy needs to be utilised and the flow enhanced.
Intelligence and intellect are the first indications of the activity of mind in each of us but although there are many people who believe that these are the ultimate abilities of man this is definitely not the case. The use of the intuition correctly takes us to levels of consciousness that far exceed the limits of the intellect. However initially intelligence and intellect are necessary for developing the energy bond between man and soul.
Another form of approach that is many thousands of years old is based on a particular form of meditation known as Raja Yoga which if practised on a regular basis will definitely produce results that are worthwhile. This technique is centred on the consideration and contemplation of a concept with the aim to raise energy levels and cell activity in the brain.
Yoga is working with energy and as most of us are aware there are many different forms of yoga. All of them have been developed to assist our growth and understanding but what is not often realised is that some of these methods have definitely become obsolete. To continue their practice not only holds back our growth but can actually cause harm.
Those meditations and yoga that work on the slow and steady development of the mind in relationship to the soul are the ones of greatest importance and cause no damage. Raja Yoga is one of these approaches.
May the development of Light and Love with practical application in all that is undertaken be your aim and your success.
