Aimeo Cottage – Holiday House with character, charm and seaviews

aimeo cottage

Aimeo Cottage is built on the hill of Okiato, a secluded peninsula overlooking the Bay of Islands. Only a stone’s throw from the site of the country’s first Government House and just across the Bay, where the British and Maori leaders signed the historic Treaty of Waitangi in 1840.

Upstairs your holiday house has an open plan living/dining/kitchen area and two bedrooms with bathrooms, almost all with magnificent water views. The cozy living room is fully furnished with CD, DVD, Freeview TV, books in English and German, and lots of information about New Zealand, especially Northland.

The kitchen is fully equipped with dishwasher, microwave, coffee machine, juicer and mixer, a gastop cooker and electric oven.

The deck surrounding the house catches the sun from early morning until sunset. It has a gas BBQ, furniture and umbrellas for your use.

The ground level has accommodation for two people with views over the Veronica Channel in a spacious, comfortable, self-contained studio with polynesian decor. The kitchenette is equipped with a coffee machine, refrigerator, electric stove with 2 plates and a small oven. There is a dining table as well as a TV and DVD player.

A subtropical garden with lawns, bananas, macademia, fig, and citrus trees offers several quiet areas for reading and relaxing.

Next to the spacious parking area is a separate laundry including a linen closet.

Wireless internet is available to guests.

A short stroll through some bush leads to a private swimming beach, and the Okiato-Russell walkway starts right at your doorstep.

A ten-minute car ride takes you to Russell, a village steeped in history and tranquility and arguably one of the most idyllic seaside resorts in New Zealand. With a carefully guarded olde world charm and famous for it’s Big Game fishing, Russell counts many overseas residents among it’s 1,000 inhabitants to give it a truly international flair.
